Tasty!

The Bookish Gardener started this trend, and Bill challenged me to join in. So, here goes: 1. Lilies: oriental or asiatic? Crinum, because they're tough here and grow happily. Canna because they're so forgiving. 2. No-till or till? No-till. Less work. 3. Bare hands or garden gloves? I used to be a bare-handed gardener (and my hands were definitely worse for the wear) until I tried some great gloves that I got from Brent & Becky's bulbs. They're the kind with a woven back and a rubber-coated palm. They breathe, so my hands don't get so miserably hot, and the palm and finger coating is thin enough that I can "feel" what I'm doing when I plant. So, now I'm a glove girl. 4. Garden tchotchkes, no or yes? Yes, in very small doses. I prefer rock. 5. Clay or sand? Clay, with lots and lots of limestone. 6. Shrub roses or hybrid teas? Shrub. The tougher the better. 7. Hollyhocks: single or double? Never grown 'em. 8. Foliage: gray or glaucous? I like both grey and blue foliage! 9. Hemerocallis: flava or fulva? Huh? I think they all have mad flava. (Props to those who laughed at that) 10. Impatiens: double or single? Neither. They're too wimpy for my Texas gardener. 11. Calendula or tagetes? I only have tagetes -- Mexican Mint Marigold. 12. Arborvitae or juniper? Juniper makes me itch, so none of that. Never had arborvitae. 13. Spaded edge or "edging"? Limestone edging, all the way. 14. Asters or mums? Mum's the word. 15. Reflecting pool or coursing waterfall? Water fall. 16. Morning glory blue or forget-me-not blue? Morning glories are one of my main delights, though I don't have any here in my new garden (nothing for them to twine on yet) 17. Lettuce: leaf or cos? I really enjoyed growing the French Market Mix I got from Renee's Garden this year. They were all leaf lettuces. 18. Hyacinth bean or red runner bean? Hyacinth, by default. 19. Orange or pink? Both, and sometiems together. 20. Garden bed shapes: formal or informal? Depends, really. I like definite structures but not too much formality. 21. Garden bed planting schemes: informal or formal? Informal, but decisive. 22. Hydrangeas: lace-cap or mophead? Both, but they don't grow here. 23. Spirea japonica: dried flowerheads standing over the winter or in bloom? Hmmm... this quiz was obviously written by a northerner... 24. Japanese beetle drowning medium: kerosene or dishsoap solution? No kerosene--that's scary. But I don't have the beetles. 25. Garden stroll time: dusk or dawn Both, and several other times during the day when I need a break from work.
