Holiday weekend accomplishments
-- Planted arroyo sweetwood, lots of little plants from the Fall swap and Brarygirl, and (finally) seeds for chard, lettuce and various Chinese veggies -- Did not maim, insult, annoy or otherwise kill any family members at holiday gathering -- Completed one border of limestone edging (6x6x8-inch blocks, sunk down about 2/3 into the soil) -- Sprinkled out some coneflower and daisy seeds because, hey, you never know -- Celebrated 2nd anniversary with my favorite husband ;-) -- Hung out with the Nicest Niece on the planet, danced jigs, lost at Guesstures and watched the last third of a Hilary Duff movie (twice!) -- Subjected Coco the Wonder Pup to the young Westie puppy treatment (Peepers the dog, somehow named after me yet also a boy, despite the fact that Peepers was the Niece's nickname first. It's like that in my family) -- Recklessly moved the Mexican bush sage and ruthlessly divided the garlic chives (come to think of it, the only way to divide chives is ruthlessly) -- Made cranberries from scratch, although I can't eat them -- Made roasted garlic mashed potatoes from scratch, especially because I can eat them -- Watched the Longhorns (sort of) beat A&M, sadly beginning to bid adieu to Derrick Johnson, Best Linebacker Ever -- Had the distinct pleasure of having our 2-year-old Maytag refrigerator and freezer die on us--ENDANGERING THE MASSIVE PESTO STOCKPILE!!!! Oh, woe. Untold gallons of pesto in jars for Christmas presents and they may all be no good. A wheelbarrow-full of basil. A bathtub full of pesto. All turning black in little packages. So, so sad. And all of that's why I haven't had time to post. What's up with you guys out there? Been busy?

Hey, do you call that a holiday? It wears me out just reading all the things you crammed into your weekend.
