More brain leakage
Our illustrious lege has voted in the anti-gay-marriage bill. Read what Molly Ivins has to say about it, which is really just a word-for-word transcript of the speech Senfronia Thompson made to the legislature. Senfronia rules. Yay Texas.

And let me clarify what's cool about Senfronia's speech: She draws the very tight parallel to what lawmakers in the 50s did with anti-miscegenation legislation. Back then, interracial marriage was positioned as a threat to the institution of marriage in exactly the same way as gay marriage is today. It was hooey then, it's hooey now.
Also, it rightly points out that this would take away the rights of couples who have worked within the law to create legal partnerships so they can share assets, make life-and-death decisions, etc. etc. What type of law takes AWAY people's rights? A bad one.
By the way, does my interracial marriage threaten you? Ooh, scary scary!
