Screwin' around in the backyard and other "hang-out" stories
Yesterday, the Jackal and the Monkey came over for basketball watching, grilling and to get my help in planting some herbs for Jackal's patio. It was like back in the college days, where you used to hang out with friends and get stuff done in a laidback kind of way... not doing much, but getting some things taken care of and laughing a lot. And then last night, we went to eat crawfish with Matt & Laura and made a dive-bar crawl from Ginny's Little Longhorn to Common Interest (Burnet Rd peeps, represent!). Good, stupid, Austin-style fun. Friends are cool. I had an easy, fun day with a lot of laughter and little angst, for the first time in months. Whew! I told Mom I wasn't going to call her this weekend, because I just need a break from everything. My stomach has finally stopped hurting all the time, and I'm actually sleeping well most of the time, and thank God, the universe is cutting me a bit piece of slack for a little while. Garden Accomplishments: -- further progress on the big backyard bed -- potting up extras for the plant swap next weekend -- compost & mulch for the veggie beds -- Monkey weeded the paths in the veggie garden -- finally bought and potted up the houseplant for the red glazed pot in the living room -- potted the lime tree -- stop: hammock time! Today, I'd like to do a bit more work outside getting ready for the swap and tidying. I got more broken bags of mulch and stuff at Lowe's. HoDe is really the better deal: $5 for all you can load. Er, maybe I shouldn't blog this... don't want too many people to know about it! Lunch with the inlaws, who have been very kind the past weeks, sending us yummy Chinese food and giving us some space. And travel planning! Yay, San Francisco!
