Uh, wha?

Garden has become a noun around here, not a verb. No time, and now it's getting insanely too hot already. There are three seasons at Casa Chang: Football, Gardening and Nap Time. Nap Time starts when the temps climb above 95 and the humidity's over a zillion and the A/C's on all the time. You'd think after a lifetime in Texas, I could take the heat. You'd be wrong. I feel personally offended by it, in fact. The tomatoes are exploding, but no ripe ones this week. I'm worried about the Giant Brandywine. It looks like it's splitting at the stem end. It's possible that the weird rain/dry/rain cycle is affecting them, plus the sudden spike in temps. And last night we had a huge grumblestorm, which is both good and bad. We've harvested some onions, but haven't eaten them yet. I'm anxious to try them out, but I've been working late every night and busy all weekend. No time for culinary adventures or even grocery shopping in any meaningful way. Grr. Sometimes the freelance life sucks. Like Texas summers, it's all drought or all torrent.

Nice to find another garden blog. Especially a Texas one.

I once had a friend named Didi also, and I wonder where she is.
