Man oh man
I just ripped the The Atlantic Blues Boxed Set, a set I've owned for years but never really delved into. So I'm listening to the tracks from these 4 CDs on shuffle, and wow. WOW. Right now, it's Percy Mayfield, singing "Nothing Stays the Same Forever. This song sounds like Iggy Pop, like Tom Waits...only way, way cooler. What an amazing voice. The dude wrote "Hit the Road Jack." Dang. Dang. Dang. And don't even get me started on Wynonie Harris' voice... Thank you, ITunes!

Do I need that box set? Okay I don't like anything past, say, 1940. That's my criteria.
P.S. I'm a block away from NPR headquarters! I'm so storming that castle, maybe tomorrow.
Young lady, please take your lips off of Ira Glass...
FYI: I can burn you a sampler of the boxed set. That way you can decide for yourself. Percy's from the 50s and early 60s, though, so don't be too scared.
